Sixth Form

Nightingale Lecture Series 

Our Nightingale Lectures are termly black-tie events for our Sixth Form students. They will introduce you to the type of formal dining experience that you will encounter at university and in the business world. You will hear from interesting, experienced and charismatic guest speakers over a three-course dinner and learn to confidently engage in discussion about the pertinent issues raised by the speaker.

Previous speakers include:

  • James Allison, technical director of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport
  • Simon Harmer, double amputee Afghanistan war veteran
  • Dr Georgia Cole, Oxford University research fellow specialising in refugee and forced migration
  • David Millar, former professional cyclist turned anti-doping campaigner
  • Dr Suzie Imber, associate professor of planetary science at the University of Leicester and winner of BBC 2’s ‘Astronauts: Do You Have What it Takes?’
  • Alex Hibbert, adventurer and polar explorer
  • Simon Parker, writer and broadcaster 
  • Dr Alastair Munro, clinical research fellow specialising in paediatric infectious diseases
