You will study subjects you love, learn new skills, develop your curiosity, lead and influence, and gain more independence, in an environment that is closer to that of university. With so many exciting career paths to follow, you can choose from 23 A Level subjects which are academically rigorous and taught in small groups. They can be studied in any combination and complemented with the Extended Project Qualification to create a tailored two year programme that reflects your academic strengths and interests and paves the way to achieving your ambitions. |
We believe that the personal development and formation of individuals is the most important experience a school can bestow upon its students. Risk taking is the norm as students understand the benefits of feeling purposefully uncomfortable to become great thinkers and leaders of the next generation. |
A tailored approach to Sixth Form |
Embley Sixth Form is for the aspiring and ambitious. Our students enjoy a new form of independence where they take charge of their own personal development, follow personalised curricula, and receive professional coaching in a structured environment, all carefully crafted around them. |
Sixth Form offers some of the most fulfilling and life-affirming years at school. Through a rich and flexible curricular and co-curricular programme, we feed curiosity, broaden thinking and stretch students intellectually. We offer expert-led teaching and learning experiences and considerably smaller class sizes compared to those in a sixth form college. |
This means strong student-teacher relationships, plenty of time for feedback and coaching, and academic stretch and challenge tailored to each student. Lessons are mainly discussion-based and seminar in style, allowing for more in-depth independent study. |

Student leadership is central to the success of Embley and its students. As well as taking leadership of your own learning, you can apply for a range of positions to lead school-wide initiatives and manage our student body. |
You will gain real-world skills and experiences that will give you the knowledge, ability and confidence to become an emerging leader, take on new challenges and influence others to make change happen. |
Entry to university has become increasingly competitive in recent years. You will be guided through every stage of the application process. We’ll help you achieve a competitive advantage when applying to the top universities by ensuring you showcase your academic ambitions, aptitudes and career aspirations in applications and at interview. |
Interview preparation includes an interview practice afternoon for all sixth formers with professionals from a range of professions and industries, and we draw on our teacher’s expertise for subject-specific interview practice ahead of university academic interviews. |

From learning about duty and service through community outreach, our Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh to understanding how teamwork leads to smooth sailing as part of Embley’s keelboat race team, there are endless experiences to provide a rich balance between your academic ambitions and wider aspirational goals. |
You could be part of our global community project and volunteer at our partner school, Little Roses, in remote Ghana or lead workshops with care home residents as part of our classroom in the community work. |
