This August, Embley launches a new series of Sports Performance Camps, built to accelerate development and raise performance in a focused, professional environment in hockey, netball and rugby. Open to both Embley and non-Embley students, these camps give young athletes the skills, insight and training needed to take their performance to the next level.

Hockey Performance CampThis non-residential three-day camp is led by Embley's Head of Hockey, Morgan Sturt. It blends high-quality pitch-based coaching with off-pitch athletic development. Players will undertake sessions focused on technical refinement, tactical understanding, and decision-making at game intensity, alongside strength and conditioning work in our on-site gym facility. Athlete wellbeing and recovery are central to the programme. Mr Sturt is a National League player for Havant HC, is a Talent Academy Coach with the South Coast Talent Academy and represented England Colleges as a junior.

Netball Performance CampLed by Embley's Head of Netball, Zoe Leavers, this performance camp will focus on developing and enhancing players' technical and tactical skills through a series of targeted workshops. The camp is designed for girls who have experience playing netball at school or club level and already have a good understanding of the game. Our aim is to challenge and motivate netballers who are eager to push themselves, grow their confidence, and take their game to the next level. Miss Leavers has over 30 years of playing experience and during her time at university captained both the England and British universities teams, which she then went on to coach.

Rugby Performance CampLed by Embley's rugby coach, Ben Turner, this non-residential three-day camp will focus on elite skill development, tactical analysis and strength and conditioning. Students will receive position‑specific coaching, allowing them to refine the technical skills most relevant to their role. Training sessions will include a strong emphasis on game‑based scenarios, encouraging players to improve their decision making under pressure. To deepen players’ understanding of the sport, the camp will also feature tactical awareness sessions, a structured strength and conditioning block and a dedicated recovery block. Alongside this, players will receive practical nutrition and hydration advice to help them understand how to fuel their bodies for training, recovery, and competitive play. Mr Turner has a degree in Coaching and Sports Development and over nine years of experience as Head Coach (U18) at Winchester RFC.
