Acquisition of knowledge and the honing of skills is as important as individuality and character development.Every school day is filled with joy and wonder. Our curriculum is broad and knowledge focused. We give the same rigour and value across all subjects, instilling a passion and love for learning from a young age. While the children are busily enjoying their learning, our teachers are looking forensically at each child’s potential, using data to access their cognitive ability as well as day-to-day tracking to ensure that they receive the optimum level of stretch and challenge across all aspects of learning. |
Our children are independent thinkers and collaborators. They learn with a sense of purpose, confidence, humour and belief in readiness for the world that both is and will be, rather than the world that was. |
Where the fire of ambition burns bright |
We believe that the earlier the fire of ambition is lit, the brighter it burns. We take pride in children achieving their academic best. Your child will learn in a community where individuality is celebrated and where a spirit of discovery helps them grow into the best version of themselves. Every one of our teachers is passionate about helping each child realise their potential; their energy and devotion fills every room. |
Learning comes alive through a content-rich curriculum that connects across subjects. For example, a Rainforest topic in Year 4 will include studying deforestation and Brazil’s palm oil industry in Geography then creating a news report on the issue in Drama, learning about Henri Rousseau in Art, and exploring climate change in Science before venturing on a field trip to a zoo’s tropical house for a workshop on biodiversity. |
We are a forward thinking and innovative Prep where, in moving with the times, we have specialists in their fields as well as specialist subject teachers, such as our resident marine biologist who teaches through his experiences as an arctic research scientist. |

All children at Embley are encouraged to be outward looking; understanding that the world does not stop at the end of one’s nose but that it is by enriching the lives of those around them that they will find the greatest happiness. |
Children have opportunities to complete levels on the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme, Royal Yachting Association sailing certifications, as well as horse riding, archery and skiing. |
Our creative curriculum is an integral part of every child’s learning experience as they develop fundamental skills of expression, confidence, collaboration and self-discipline. Your child will learn about Art from an artist’s perspective in our purpose-built art studio. |
They will be able to immerse themselves in Drama and more experiential learning, with improvisations in class around themed topics and texts which complement our English curriculum, and with opportunities to perform. All Prep children have a dedicated music lesson each week and we showcase our musicians’ work at our termly recitals. |

Trophies come and go but the disposition to compete to be your best is the most lasting trophy because it supports an authentic life. Our children love to be part of a team and represent Embley in a range of sport. |
We instil best sporting practice from the youngest of ages and place a strong emphasis on the broader life skills of humility, teamwork, discipline, pride, accountability and compassion – this is what sets true sports people apart. |
