We have nearly 200 staff working at Embley across a range of teaching and operational departments, with a strong emphasis on continuing personal development. Training is delivered at Inset days and twilight sessions across the academic year with a programme covering the latest developments in teaching, sharing of best practice and insights from visiting educational experts, including Winchester and Southampton universities and TES.

Staff work collaboratively and observe each other regularly, with professional conversations to support development. This not only ensures our continuous focus on high quality teaching and learning but reinforces our mutually supportive professional relationships at Embley. Subject specific training is also encouraged to ensure staff have the latest knowledge of their curricula and specifications.

Head of Science and Physics Teacher

Embley is seeking an exceptional and imaginative Head of Science to lead a thriving department and inspire a generation of young people to explore, question and delight in the scientific world. This is a rare opportunity for an outstanding teacher and creative leader to shape a bold, curiosity driven vision for science education at one of the South’s most forward thinking independent schools.
 
We are looking for a leader who shares out approach to science inspired by Richard Feynman’s attitude to building curiosity, asking questions and interrogating data. From Natural Science exploration of our site to Marine Biology on the Solent, this is unique opportunity to lead students on a path of exploration through hands-on experimentation and discovery.

Teacher of Physics

Embley is seeking an inspiring and imaginative Teacher of Physics to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Science Department. We are looking for a teacher who can spark curiosity, encourage bold questioning and help pupils develop a deep understanding of the physical world.

You will teach Physics up to A Level and Science across KS3 and GCSE, delivering lessons that value investigation, clarity of explanation and evidence led thinking. You will contribute to a coherent, curiosity driven curriculum and support pupils following AQA Separate Sciences or Combined Trilogy pathways.

As part of a collaborative and reflective department, you will help shape enrichment opportunities, promote thoughtful scientific inquiry and support the many pupils who choose to pursue science at A Level.

Local area and transport links to Embley

Located in the heart of the English countryside and on the edge of the New Forest, Embley is within easy reach of cities including Winchester, Southampton and Salisbury.

Southampton Central and Southampton Parkway have fast train connections to London. From Romsey, there is a direct line to the West country passing through Salisbury, Bath and Bristol to Cardiff, and Southampton and Portsmouth to the East. Embley is easily accessible by road, being five minutes from the M27 at Junction 2.
