Our children are proud to be part of, and contribute to, a large school community where younger members benefit from the academic insight and experiences of their older peers and the connections they make together through shared passions and ambitions. Year 6 read weekly with our Reception children, Senior School Maths mentors are paired with Prep children to provide encouragement and support, Senior School scholars help lead our Prep STEM Club, and Duke of Edinburgh students support the Prep Adventure Club, Wild Ones, ballet and Art clubs. |
Exploring adventure and service at Embley |
Our children are articulate and confident, with a strong sense of social responsibility. We achieve this by providing an education beyond the classroom that helps them grow intellectually, physically, spiritually and emotionally. |
On the water, your child can sail in dinghies and take part in inter-school sailing championships or climb aboard our 37 ft yacht and Etchell 22s and sail into the Solent to gather samples and explore habitats as part of their Marine Biology lessons. |
Deep in the woods, you can find a hive of activity as the children learn which provides a stimulating environment where children learn to use tools, build shelters, make bug hotels or a composter and learn about the ecosystem surrounding them. |
Our children lead fundraising initiatives including food bank donations, supporting Southampton Street Pastors, as well as taking part in Christmas Jumper Day, NSPCC Numbers Day and Mission Christmas, and we have strong links with local care homes which sees residents regularly hosted by our Prep School children. |
As well as invitations to enjoy our many productions and performances throughout the year, our children spend time listening to and learning about the residents’ life stories to help in their understanding of their place in the world. |
Our focus is for children to be ambitious for themselves and each other, to develop a sense of self belief and to be compassionate human beings. Our Year 6 prefect team lead many initiatives to the benefit of our school community, be it our Science prefects who work with our Head of Prep Science to enhance our learning resources, Eco Prefects who lead the way |
on sustainability in the Prep, Music prefects hosting informal concerts or Library prefects who been integral to our Prep School Library’s redevelopment. They carry their responsibilities with confidence and pride, and we are hugely proud of the contribution they make to the development of our school. |
