Each morning sees children running through our doors without a backwards glance.

Children join us from the age of 2 and follow a progressive development path as part of the Early Years curriculum that prepares them for the passage from toddler to school age.

With Embley Prep just next door to our self-contained Early Years Department, the transition could not feel more natural to both parent and child when the time comes.

Emblington
the Explorer

Meet Emblington the Eagle Owl, who is taking his first big step on his journey to become an explorer. To do so, he will experience new adventures at Embley Nursery & Pre-School alongside his new friends and learn that school is a doorway to magic and wonder.

In a purposeful, fun and supportive environment, we travel on a journey together; each member of staff with each child in our care.

Every aspect of Nursery and Pre-School life is carefully crafted to help your child grow.

Our staff’s exuberance for every child’s development shines through the variety of inspiring activities enjoyed each day as we capture imaginations and make meaning through learning.

Learning

Your child will become an active explorer as they discover more about the world around them and start developing lifelong skills for learning. We introduce academic subjects in a way that fosters a child’s natural sense of curiosity and wonder, independence, collaboration and creativity. Every day includes activities to support mathematics, literacy and scientific discovery.

French, Music and PE are led by our specialist Prep teachers and in Natural Science lessons - which has cross curricular links with our Prep Science and Geography curriculum - the children learn in our outdoor classroom in the woods.

Adventure

Whatever the weather, we always have fun adventures exploring the outdoors. Surrounded by our 130 acres of parkland and woodland, there is plenty of space for your child to spread their wings and develop a love of nature.

We also venture on trips to enhance our curriculum such as to the beach, to learn about the ocean and coastal environment, and our monthly visits to the local public library, to support communication and language development.

Nursery &

Pre-School Day

Underpinning your child’s learning is a team of highly experienced teachers who plan meticulously but also work spontaneously to ensure every child’s curiosity is captured, making lessons fun and purposeful each day.

Your child can start the day with breakfast as early as 08:00 and finish after a light supper at 18:00. All our meals, including lunch, are freshly prepared and made by our resident chef using healthy ingredients.

Preparing for Prep School

There is a real focus at Embley to create a happy, safe and secure environment for our children, where they can feel confident developing their independence. We recognise that, as a parent, it is a big step to put your trust in others to look after the wellbeing and development of your child.

We make sure that the start of school is a fun time and we help with any nerves which may arise. By the time your child starts their new learning adventure at Prep, they will already feel part of our whole school community.
