Remembrance Service

Embley students, staff and our wider community came together to honour those who have served through a series of Remembrance events. On Sunday, our Embley Combined Cadet Force (CCF) proudly took part in the Romsey Armistice Parade, joining the local community to honour those who have served and sacrificed. Students from Year 7 to Year 13 attended a moving service at Romsey Abbey before gathering at the Memorial Gardens to observe the two-minute silence.

Following the parade, our Embley community came together for our own Remembrance Service, a heartfelt tribute to those whose lives have been touched by war. Led by Reverend Thomas Wharton from Romsey Abbey, the service featured thoughtful contributions from pupils and staff, who shared stories, poetry, and reflections on this year’s theme: “Service, not self.”

Later in the morning, Embley CCF represented the school at the Remembrance Service in the Romsey Memorial Gardens. Our most senior cadet and Head of School, Sergeant Major Rose was honoured to read the Kohima Epitaph. Cadets also had the privilege of meeting veterans, members of the Royal British Legion, and the Mayor of Romsey, as well as witnessing a demonstration of military arms by the Cumberland Guards.

Elsewhere, cadets from our Army, Navy and Junior sections volunteered to support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal by running the poppy stand at B&Q Nursling. During their shift, our students raised an impressive £149 and our cadets were proud to contribute to such an important cause. Thank you to everyone who supported and joined us for our Remembrance events. We are proud of all our students for representing Embley with respect, compassion, and dedication throughout the week.
