Embley and Romsey Rugby Club came together to organise a charity rugby match in aid of the Jibraan Chaudhary Sepsis Research Foundation. The event was a great success, bringing in over 200 people and raising nearly £5000 to support innovative medical research into leukemia related infections.
Our Embley U14 team and the Romsey Rugby Club U14 squad gave their all in the thrilling, closely fought match. Both teams displayed great camaraderie, team spirit and enthusiasm. In the end Embley came away with the win 31-21 and was awarded the JCSR Foundation Cup by The Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP.
“The event was truly phenomenal and has exceeded all of our expectations. The commitment and spirit shown by the boys, the parents and the community are beyond words, simply saying thank you and how much this means to me and the family does not do justice to how we truly feel.”
Dr Nveed Chaudhary, Jibraan’s father and Chairperson of the JCSR Foundation
The event was a wonderful way to bring the community together in remembrance of Jibraan and to raise vital funds for such an important and currently underfunded cause. The future ambition is to involve more local schools and rugby clubs from across Hampshire to grow the event. If you would still like to support the charity, there is an ongoing silent auction featuring prizes donated by both Embley and Romsey Rugby Club's generous communities.
