Team building
We had a fantastic start to the new school year with a series of exciting team building days for our Senior School and Sixth Form students.
From Year 7's adventure at Calshot to activities across our 130-acre campus, our grounds have been full of joy and laughter as they took on each challenge. Students were off timetable to take part in a series of age specific team building sessions. The programme required students to develop a range of skills skills.
Year 8 and 10 took part in problem-solving puzzles and challenges requiring teamwork and collaboration. Year 9 participated in a wilderness concept ‘Rule of 3’ incorporating den building, fire building and evacuation techniques, where they were tasked with building a basic stretcher from ropes, plastic sheet and wooden poles.
Sixth Form were tasked with an ‘Apprentice’ style challenge to produce a working catapult. Working in small teams, Year 12 took on roles of CEO, financial officer, construction and marketing. After building their prototypes the students tested the effectiveness of their designs by seeing how far they could project a lemon and at the end of the session teams were judged on distance, accuracy, quality of the pitch and product usefulness. The activity was designed to simulate the kind of experience they could expect on a degree apprenticeship selection day or an interview process for a graduate training scheme.
