Speech Day

We were honoured to welcome Alex Danson-Bennett MBE as a special guest speaker at our Prep and Senior Speech Day ceremonies.

Alex Danson-Bennett MBE was part of the history-making women’s hockey team who won Gold at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Her other remarkable achievements include Bronze at the London 2012 Olympics, clinching three commonwealth medals and recently being appointed the President of England Hockey.

Embley Speech Day reflected on another year of achievements and adventures for our children. We were treated to outstanding musical performances and engaging speeches from the Headmaster, Head of Prep, Chair of Governors and Heads of School, Freya and Caleb. Pupils from across the Prep and Senior Schools were presented with awards recognising progress, service and academic achievement. Over 600 parents, family members and guests came together on the Headmaster’s Lawn between the two events.

Alex Danson-Bennett MBE took us on an inspiring trip to the London 2012 Olympics as we experienced the sights and sounds from her perspective. We learnt about the trials and tribulations of her journey to Olympic success and Alex reminded us that it is not always about winning or medals. The most important thing is what you learn along the way, the friendships you make and how you decide to move forward.
