Over half-term, 40 students and 6 staff headed to the sunny south coast of Spain for our Senior Sports Tour. The tour brought together our senior Rugby and Hockey squads, with each team playing two competitive fixtures across the trip.
The Hockey team faced Gibraltar Hockey, securing a well-deserved victory, before taking on Malaga Hockey in a closely contested match which saw us narrowly defeated. Meanwhile, the Rugby squad took on Gibraltar, achieving a strong win, followed by a tightly fought draw against Marbella RFC. One of the most memorable aspects of the tour was seeing the teams support one another from the side-lines. The spirit, encouragement, and togetherness shown made for a truly special atmosphere and was a highlight for both staff and students. Congratulations to Jake (Rugby) and Millie (Hockey) on being presented with the 'Player of the Tour' awards.
Away from the pitch, the group enjoyed a full programme of activities. Students made the most of the hotel facilities and beach, explored Marbella’s Old Town, rode the cable car to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar to see the famous monkeys and took on the high ropes adventure at Aventura Amazonia.
For some of our Year 13 students, this was their fourth and final tour. It was a memorable way to round off their time representing Embley.
