Rotary Young Technologist Competition

Senior School students participated in the Rotary Young Technologist Competition. The event, run by Rotary Club Romsey Test, saw 24 teams from seven local schools put their STEM skills to the test to solve a design and technology problem.Teams were challenged to design, build and test a launcher capable of firing a space capsule with meteorological instruments, into the stratosphere. They had to build a structure strong enough to launch their cargo and include a trigger release mechanism that could be fired after a ten second countdown.

Having successfully demonstrated their ingenuity, teamwork and problem-solving skills, each of our teams came away with an award. William, Lottie, Ellie and Arthur (Year 9) won the Foundation task. In the Intermediate class, Haroon, William and Yana (Year 10) came very close runners-up and Jacob (Year 12) was awarded the Advanced prize. Congratulations to all our students who took part, what brilliant accomplishments.
