Year 2 enjoyed a fascinating and immersive trip to Fort Nelson where they met Florence Nightingale and a soldier from the Crimean War.
The children had the chance to explore what life was like in a military camp and deepen their understanding of the challenging conditions faced by soldiers at the time. They learned how Florence Nightingale worked tirelessly to improve hygiene in hospitals, reducing deaths from disease and infection. Under Florence’s guidance, the class even carried out their own hospital inspection to check whether the facilities were clean and fit for purpose! The engaging and interactive experience brought history to life and sparked curiosity in our budding historians.
