Year 3 recently returned from an exciting working at heights outdoor education trip to Tile Barn Outdoor Centre. The trip, led by expert instructors, introduced pupils to developing confdience at heights and challenged them to be ambitious and step outside their comfort zones. The children enjoyed a range of personal challenges including crate stacking, scaling the climbing wall, abseiling and the upright obstacle course.
Throughout the trip, the children put their teamwork and communication skills to the test as they supported and encouraged each other. They also demonstrated their courage, resilience and determination, often achieving beyond their own expectations. It was wonderful to see our pupils return feeling a sense of pride in what they had accomplished.
This activity forms part of our wider outdoor education programme at Prep which aims to foster a love for the outdoors and focus on developing key skills year by year as a pre cursor to our Senior School outdoor education programme. Confidence at Heights in Year 3 is followed by a Year 4 residential focused on 'Confidence on the Water', a Year 5 residential to Avon Tyrell and Year 6 week at Mill on the Brue.
