Our Embley Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Beret Ceremony marked a proud moment as our new cadets were formally presented with their Cambridge blue berets by Major Peet Steinberg who arrived at Embley by Apache helicopter.
Major Steinberg began his distinguished military career as a private in the Parachute Regiment before commissioning from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst into the Army Air Corps. Major Steinberg has completed four operational tours in Afghanistan, during which he served as Flight Commander for 662 Squadron. Major Steinberg now serves as an instructor at Middle Wallop, where he is instrumental in the training of pilots on the new Apache AH64E platform.
Following the parade and presentation, guests were invited to observe Year 8 students and cadets take part in a variety of activities led by our senior cadets. The CCF at Embley provides a disciplined framework that complements the school’s core values, offering young people extensive opportunities to develop key life skills such as leadership, teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence. Students had the opportunity to test their skills in a range of activities including camouflage, paintball, fieldcraft and scuba diving. The event was a great way to celebrate this important occasion for our young cadets and give our students a taster of the opportunities available at Embley.
