Sustainability at Broxmore House

Year 5 and 6 learnt about sustainable agriculture practices during their visit to a small-scale farm at Broxmore House.

The children explored the four-acre farm on a guided tour where they learnt about maintaining and increasing biodiversity, permaculture and soil health. They also investigated the relationship between growing food and looking after wildlife and witnessed honeybees pollinating plants and then returning to their hives with nectar. Year 6 helped plant crops to create their own vegetable plot that will be harvested next year. This is part of a new partnership Embley is building to expand pupils’ knowledge on sustainability, food forests, permaculture and where our food comes from.
