Inspirational trip to Paris

Embley Art, Photography and 3D Design students spent an action packed four days in Paris, exploring the capital's most iconic museums, art galleries and  architecture.GCSE and A Level students travelled by Eurostar to the historic heart of the French city. Their first stop was a visit to The Maison Européenne de la Photographie, a centre for contemporary photographic art, whose collection spans the history of international photography from the 1950s to the present.

Next they visited the Cité de la Mode et du Design, home to the Institut Français de la Mode and renowned for its avant-garde architecture. The building was converted from an old industrial warehouse in 2005 and covered with a ‘skin’ made from metal and glass, inspired by the river’s movement.

Day two began with a river cruise on the Seine followed by a visit to the Musee D'Orsay. The gallery is housed in a converted railway station and has the largest collection impressionist and post impressionist masterpieces in the world. In the evening students were given free time to explore the iconic Pompadou Centre.

Day three encompassed daytime visits to the Louvre, Galerie Dior and an evening vist to the Eiffel Tower. On the final day the group enjoyed exploring Monmatre and the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, with its fantastic views over Paris.
