This week we have witnessed a number of notable wins on the courts and pitches both at Embley and away, with some superb skills and sportsmanship on display.
On Monday, our U15A girls won the Embley Netball Tournament, beating Portsmouth Grammar School, Portsmouth High School and Ryde along the way. Matches were fast, furious and fiercely fought with the girls’ confidence growing with every goal scored.
On Wednesday Embley hosted an U13s Rugby 7s Tournament with five schools from around the county attending. Our U13 boys managed to beat every school to win the tournament. The boys have trained hard throughout the term which was evident from their performance as they played some great rugby over the course of the afternoon. It was gratifying to see their efforts rewarded.
On Thursday, our U16 boys attended the Hampshire Schools Rugby 7s competition. Despite narrowly losing their first game by just four points the team rallied and went on to win the Plate Final! This means that the U16 boys have won honours across both the 15-a-side and the 7-a-side season. The U16 and U13 boys’ teams are now looking forward to the National Schools 7s Tournament which is taking place next week at Rosslyn Park.
Following the successes Mr Gareth Richards, Director of Sport at Embley commented: “Congratulations to all the teams who have represented Embley this week. The students have been great ambassadors for both the school and the sports they play. Everyone has demonstrated excellent teamwork and a willingness to support each other. At times they needed high levels of resilience to overcome tough challenges which they managed, whilst showing excellent sportsmanship in every match.”
