Marvellous Maths day

Prep pupils put their knowledge to the test in a range of challenging activities as part of a fun Maths Day. At Embley Prep, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme. As well written work, we use concrete, pictorial and abstract approaches. We also look at reasoning and problem-solving questions, which focus more on the ‘how?’ and ‘why?’ questions. We are also passionate about making sure Maths lessons are delivered in a creative, fun and engaging way.

Maths Day kicked off with a whole school Maths quiz and exciting Maths challenges in the morning. Years 3 to 6 then put their numeracy knowledge to the test, cracking clues to try and unlock their way out of escape rooms. Year 1 and 2 explored the Woodland Library on a scavenger hunt for numeracy puzzles. Even our youngest pupils in the group tried to tackle the more difficult questions and it was great to see their excitement as they discovered the correct answers.

Nursery and Reception enjoyed a day of numbers-based activities. They worked on their Maths skills and went on a shape hunt, exploring Embley Prep to see how many different shapes they could identify hidden in everyday objects!

Our Embley Maths Day was a great way to promote and celebrate a love of numbers and stretch the children’s skills through unique and interactive challenges.
