Our Modern Foreign Language Department took students from Years 9 to 11 on a trip to the beautiful city of Lyon to enhance their language skills.Beginning with a tour of Lyon city centre and the ruins of Lugdunum, students discovered more about Lyon’s fascinating history and status as Unesco World Heritage site. At the Musée des Confluences students engaged with cutting-edge natural science and anthropology exhibitions which explored topics including the origin of the world, evolution, human societies and the meaning of life. They also had a captivating visit to the Aquarium de Lyon which is home to 300 different species of fish from around the world.
Throughout the trip, students practised their French skills: at the cinema, whilst souvenier shopping and when sampling the delicious local cuisine at Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocus. The five-day residential trip, led by local French speakers, enabled students to immerse themselves culturally whilst improving their language skills and confidence.
