Year 11 geographers embarked on a fascinating data collection field trip to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London to take a closer look at urban regeneration.
Data collection and the study of urban change in the UK is an integral part of the GCSE course. During the trip, students were able to see first hand how the human landscape of the London Docklands has been transformed from a depressed docklands area of East London to a vibrant commercial centre, complete with new housing, shopping centres and exhibition spaces and transport links for rail and air travel.
Students completed an environmental quality survey at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as well as questionnaires and a land use survey. Back in the classroom at then have been busy analysing the data they collected.
