Building skills in STEM Club

In STEM Club, Year 5 and 6 have turned into architects and civil engineers. They have been challenged to design and build a structure strong enough to stand tall or bridge a gap.

The children are exploring the different factors that might affected their structure’s ability to remain upright including weight distribution, the forces involved, and size and shape. They have been thinking creatively about their designs, investigating how they could strengthen their structures, working together to test solutions and adapt their final designs.

It is great to see our pupils apply their problem-solving and creative thinking skills to explore different ideas. Their designs were even strong enough to become climbing frames for our stick insects!
