Following the Independent Schools Inspectorate’s (ISI) Educational Quality Inspection, in October 2022, Embley has achieved the highest possible ‘Excellent’ rating across all areas of our provision for pupil achievement and personal development. The quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is excellent
- Pupils have well-developed communication skills.
- Pupils are extremely numerate and transfer their skills across the curriculum with ease.
- Pupils display excellent information and communication technology (ICT) skills, employing these effectively to promote their learning.
- Pupils achieve highly in a range of academic and other areas, such as sport, music and drama.

What is an ISI inspection?
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body approved by the Department for Education for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to Independent Schools Council (ISC) and reporting on compliance with independent school regulations. The inspectors observe lessons, have discussions with pupils and examine samples of pupils’ work. They hold discussions with members of staff and with governors, observe co-curricular activities and attend form meetings and assemblies. Inspectors visit boarding houses and the facilities for the youngest pupils, together with the learning support and educational resource areas. Inspectors consider the responses of parents, staff and pupils to a pre-inspection questionnaire and examine curriculum and other documents.
