Science at Embley aims to develop curious, knowledgeable children who are passionately engaged in the ever changing world around them. Children are given opportunities throughout their learning journeys to explore, observe and reflect on their varied and exciting experiences.
Our Science lessons are enquiry based and inspires curiosity and wonder in our children. Our teaching focuses on a practical, hands-on approach where children are taught to reason methodically and imaginatively about the natural world.
From Year 3, Science lessons take place in our Prep School’s well-resourced Science classroom and our extensive school grounds allow access to a diverse eco-system full of opportunities for enquiring minds to explore. Children are encouraged to think critically in all their work, exploring and explaining their findings and suggesting new areas to investigate or questions to be answered.
Our children have the opportunity to extend their learning during lesson visits to our Senior School Science Centre and as part of our co-curricular Science clubs, and benefit from the extensive resources which include our eight laboratories and specialist teaching staff.
